Native Plants of the San Francisco Bay Area

Below is a collection of photos we’ve taken during hikes and backpacking trips in the beautiful and biodiverse open space surrounding San Francisco, including the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands, Mt. Tam, and Muir Woods. Soon, we’ll have information about each plant, and how you can introduce them to your own backyard to bring more beneficial insects, butterflies, and birds into your space.

Nature Photos

These are photos we’ve taken over the last couple of years in and around San Francisco and other parts of California. Leave a comment below if you’d like!

A Sunset Driving away from Bolinas

A beautiful sunset looking out towards Bolinas on Hwy 1

Mossy Medusa Tree

Sea Anenome

Have you been to the tide pools in Half Moon Bay? If not, you should go. If you have, you should go again.

Shelf Fungus on a Log

I just love the color contrasts here with the bright colored shelf fungus and the dark log.

Flowers Glowing on a Wooden Stair

Fantasy land, or Muir Woods rather…
