Our mission is to cooperatively create communities that are ecologically, socially, and culturally in balance. Our model is to facilitate projects that the community builds together, while also serving as hands-on educational workshops demonstrating sustainable living skills like ecological gardening, natural building, nature awareness, animal husbandry, solar cooking, gray-water use, rain catchment, soap making, cheese making, fermentation and more. It is our belief that people learn by experience and we want to provide the opportunities for people to experience the ecology of San Francisco and the interconnectedness of people, plants, animals, fungi, the physical environment and the many natural cycles and processes that support life on earth.
