ABOUT US
ECOSF is a locally grown non-profit that cultivates ecological awareness in the San Francisco community.
Welcome to ECOSF’s website. The Ecology Center Of San Francisco is a SF-based non-profit organization that came to life in January of 2006, to provide resources, education, and support to create a just and regenerative community within San Francisco.
Our mission is to empower citizens to create cooperative communities that are ecologically, socially, and culturally in balance.
We do that by designing, preparing, and planting edible gardens for schools and residents here in San Francisco, while providing education about the unsustainable practices of our current food systems, overconsumption habits, and how making a connection with the earth through your garden can help change that and make our lives, and the lives of those around us healthier and more sustainable.
We also educate individuals on the need for greater energy efficiency and renewable energy to keep our community moving forward. It is our belief that people learn by experience and we want to provide the opportunities for people to experience the ecology of San Francisco on an interconnected level.
We believe everyone has a right to clean air, clean water, and healthy, organic food and we want to promote and demonstrate the practices to make that happen. While we don’t currently have a physical location, we are working towards developing an Urban Eco Center to help create, grow, and sustain our community. A unique building that weaves human activity, nature, and creative solutions. In the meantime, check out our bi-monthly booth at the Alemany Farmer’s Market.
